We drove 299 miles to Boot Jack dispersed area in Idaho for our first visit in May, staying two nights at 6512 feet elevation. The grassy pull-through site had full sun and easy access via a graded loop road, with a fire ring and plenty of parking. Amazing views surrounded the spot, and we even saw a bear as we were pulling into the site by the river. Hiking trails and fishing were available nearby, and the area proved big rig friendly. Starlink worked well with solid download speeds, while cellular coverage from ATT/FirstNet was present though slower.

Site had a pretty steep pitch front to back and slightly off level left to right. Had a MASSIVE dog park with trees and a ton of room to run even chase a frisbee

While there Mary enjoyed getting the mile high shake at Granny’s Drive-in which was basically a DQ blizzard but BETTER!

Good spot outside of divide. Tree cover is going to make it tough on the solar panels and starlink.

There is a lot of foot/bike traffic on the road especially in morning from the locals getting their exercise. We pulled to camper in so the door was away from the road and just kept an eye on the dogs.

VERY peaceful to sit outside getting work done, and even watched a horse go by one of the many unmarked trails.

Stopped at Bailey's Saddlery and Museum near the Colorado high country for a night. The Boondockers Welcome host was friendly and made check-in simple. The gravel pull-through site had decent levelness and good sun exposure, with water and 15-amp power available. Cell service through AT&T was strong. No cost for the stay, and the location felt welcoming for a big rig with plenty of parking nearby. Take the time to tour the saddle museum!!

This started out as just needing a place for one night in order to establish residency, but their passport America great was for an unlimited number of nights outside of the Sturgis motorcycle rally so we stayed for the full week.

We enjoyed our stay here. While it wasn’t a very fancy place it was very peaceful. The dogs were able to go up the hill to run. There are walking trails over the park in the property itself is huge. There were two guys working on refreshing the lodge and if we had more time they were going to show us the “back nine “I believe this is a large pasture. They mentioned a creek running along the side that was going to be beautiful in a great place for The dogs to explore.

In the evenings after work, we were able to go see Mount Rushmore, Devils tower, deadwood, and Sturgis motorcycle museum.

There wasn’t enough time to do the Camp 5 Jeep trail, but we will hit that on the next stop through this area.

After another harvest host ghosted us and the reasonable rv parks in Oshkosh were full we were very nervous about having to stay at a truck stop or rest area for the night. Kerrigan brothers auto approved our stay for the night.

When we showed up the establishment was closed within 5 mins an employee who was still around greeted us and got us settled.

The spot was so level we didn’t unhook and there’s a whole patio and field on the other side of the building that was available for us to use and for the dogs to run!!!

The sunset was beautiful and a picturesque farm across the street made for a peaceful stop and we just wish we got here sooner to support the business.

This started out as a dream spot, but turns out it is THE local fishing spot and locals don’t keep distance for set up camp spots. The first morning we had a summer camp group park right next to our rig and start fishing the whole area, clipping a line on Mary’s canopy and making it impossible to let the dogs out.

Also saw a hatchling snapping turtle- thus big ones are in the area. Then it rained and HOLY MOSQUITOES!!!!

Turns out we prefer mountains with a field versus waterfront 🤷🏼‍♀️

We did explore St Ignas and walked to the lighthouse and saw all the cars roll in for the 50th annual classic car show (but left before the craziness started)

Got lucky and had a larger “non premium” site (178) that we fit in and ended up with NO ONE around us. If the area was full it would have been much less fun. Site had water and power but no sewer but had a convenient dump station. There were a lot of rules including the gates TURNING OFF after 11:30pm so you’d “have to walk”.

****
We spent two nights at Silver Hills Campground in Michigan during June, landing site 178, a larger non-premium spot that happened to be quiet with no neighbors nearby. The site had water and 30 amp power but no sewer, though a dump station was conveniently located on the property. The campground enforces quite a few rules, including gates that close after 11:30 pm, which means walking if you arrive late.

The real draw here was proximity to Silver Lake Sand Dunes, just ten minutes away. At $94.50 per night, the location made it worthwhile for our trip. The grass pad was reasonably level, and the property offered plenty of amenities including a pool and store. Cell service through AT&T was strong, and we used Starlink as a backup. If the campground had been full, the experience would have felt more crowded, but we lucked out with the timing.
